Construction Update - September 20, 2024

The chapel is a flurry of activity as cooler weather approaches. Several different contractors are at work. Here is a quick look at different jobs needed to build this chapel in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Roofing

The first steps of installing the roof have started. Metal trusses span from wall to wall and a metal deck is attached to the trusses.

TO DO: put on insulation, wood decking, water proofing layer, and shingles.

Windows

The rough concrete openings are framed out with wood. The windows are then attached to the wooden framing.

TO DO: Install window sills and windows.

Marble Arches

The last phase in installing the Italian marble is the arches that span from marble column to column in the nave. The wooden forms that temporarily support the arches are in place. The arch segments are lined up near by, and some of the first segments are installed.

TO DO: install 16 arches, a total of 98 segments.
